In anticipation of the changes to the parliamentary boundaries which will take effect at the next General Election (at the very latest in May 2010), our Branch, together will all the other Branches in the Axminster Area moved over from the East Devon Conservative Association (EDCA) to the Tiverton and Honiton Conservative Association (THCA) on 1st January 2007. Thus all our activities are run in conjunction with THCA, to whom all subscriptions and funds raised are now paid.
However, Hugo Swire will remain our MP for the East Devon Constituency, as presently constituted, until the next General Election. Any constituency problems or enquiries should still be addressed to Hugo Swire. His constituency office telephone number is 01395 233503 and the fax number is 01395 233903. Mrs Angela Browning is the current MP for the Tiverton and Honiton constituency and she can be contacted via the same telephone and fax numbers. Angela will be standing down at the next General Election and we hope that she will be succeeded by the prospective Conservative Parliamentary candidate, Neil Parish, who was our member at the European Parliament until he stood down at the recent European Elections.
On Devon County Council we are now represented by Andrew Moulding and on the East Devon District Council by Ian Chubb – both of whom are Conservatives.
We are a thriving Branch with a hard working committee and over 60 loyal members. We normally have two fundraising events each year - our summer outdoor event involving a strawberry cream tea and in the winter, a Wine & Cheese party. From time to time there are combined events with other neighbouring Branches.
