BRIDLEWAY 17 Springhead to Hen corner Nominal time : 40 mins

Description:
Number of Pictures: of

Photos taken by Peter Huscroft

This bridleway starts at Springhead and proceeds up through the woods to the Shute Road. 200 yds NW of Hen Corner.

From The Hill in the village take the road past Fanny’s Ground and continue through Springhead Lane.

At the end of the road take the Bridleway that proceeds into the woods marked with a fingerpost. Do not take the left hand path that goes to “The Firs”. The path is uneven at the start (tree roots) and winds its way up through Shute woods and is easy to follow. If you go early in the day you may see deer.

At the top of the gentle hill at the end of the path you can choose to take the path through the woods which runs parallel with the road. This is not a footpath but a permitted path. At the gate the path turns left and is often muddy for a short stretch before emerging on to the Shute Road. On reaching the road you can retrace your steps or walk back to the village either by turning right or left.
