This footpath is along tracks and across open farmland and can be linked with Footpath 1 for a longer walk. Wear walking boots or wellies. There is a small stream to cross mid walk, which can get quite wide if there is flooding after heavy rain.
If starting from the village, cross the main A35 and walk east towards Axminster and down Gammons Hill. At the bottom of the hill there is a kissing gate on your left Go through the gate and proceed along the concrete path to Summerleaze Farm. The path splits three ways. Take the middle path between the buildings.
The path goes on to Balls Dairy where it leads to a stile on your left opposite the house. Over the stile turn right, keeping the hedge on your right.
Cross the stream and proceed up the field with the hedge on your right to the top corner of the field. This is where you can link the walk with Footpath 1.
Turn left with the hedge on your right and walk to the small footbridge, over and on to the stile across the field. Over the stile climb the steps to pass through new trees and follow the track to the right bordering the Farm Shop field. Pass through the gap in the hedge into Coryton Lane just below the crossroads of the A35 and then back to the pub!
This is an easy walk with views across the valley.
