We have received a report of a caller in Shute Axminster trying to sell Compost Door to Door. The reporting person was rightly suspicious and sent them on their way. It is never a good idea to purchase anything from someone you don't know at your door. Tales like we were doing a job down the road and have a bit of compost, tarmac, concrete etc left over are always a danger sign and should put you on your guard.
Please phone us with any information on 08452 777 444.

During this extreme weather the public has their part to play.  The 999 system should only be used for emergencies and A&E departments only visited when necessary. Please consider using Minor Injuries Units at community hospitals. Phone ahead before leaving home if you have an NHS appointment or intend to use a Minor Injury Unit. If you have to travel, monitor the traffic and weather conditions and plan journeys by using the Highways Agency website, listening to DAB digital 'Traffic Radio' or local radio stations, or by calling the Highways Agency information line (08457 50 40 30). Remember to take a charged mobile phone, wear sensible footwear, warm clothing and carry blankets, a shovel, food and water if travelling by car. Even at home, everyone is urged to make sure that they wrap up warm, and have plenty of hot drinks throughout the day.If you have elderly or vulnerable neighbours, please keep an eye out for them and stay in regular contact to make sure they are OK. Thank you
