The southern branch of the National Vegetable Society (NVS) recently held their nation wide judges examination in Kilmington to discover a new batch of vegetable experts capable of judging entries in village produce and horticultural shows across the country.
The previous weekend saw a seminar opened to the public, with the main aim being to advise potential judges what to look for when judging local horticultural produce shows.
The event was organised by southern branch member of the NVS and local vegetable judge, Peter Lockwood.
He said: “We have received a far greater response and have had more people than ever taking the exam with people coming from as far as Essex, Cardiff and Plymouth.
Thirteen people from across the southern branch area took the exam completing various judging exercises.
