Garden open for Hospiscare
A FAMILY from Kilmington will be opening their gardens to the public to help raise money for Hospiscare.
Judy Gill, along with the help of her family, will be opening her two-and-a-half acres of woodland garden in aid of the charity and in memory of her late husband John.
Mrs Gill said: “We support the Exeter Hospice by holding this event as a way of saying thank you to the nurses and staff of the hospice who looked after my husband with so much professionalism and kindness during the last sad
days of his life in 2005.
“My family and I were also most touched by the wonderful kindness and consideration given to us at this very difficult and sad time and also the on-going support for the weeks and months after his death.”
Visitors to Mrs Gill’s garden will be able to explore the two-and-a-half acres of woodland garden complete with a charming stone walled bridge over a babbling brook. They can stroll along the lawns and admire the beds of azaleas,
rhododendrons, herbaceous and water plants as well as many other interesting shrubs and trees planted by John.
Cream teas will be served throughout the day, which visitors will be able to enjoy in the beautiful surrounds of the garden.
There will also be a marquee in the garden so it will be a great day out come rain or shine.
Last year the open garden raised just over £1,000 for Hospiscare.
A portion of this year’s funds will be donated to ARC - Axminster Bereavement Service.
Judy will be opening her garden at the Old Cider Lodge in Kilmington on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, May 11th from 11.30am to 5pm. The garden will also be open the following weekend, Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May
18th.
Admission is £2.50 and directions to the garden will be sign posted.
