Permission denied for New Inn shelter
EAST Devon District Council has refused a planning application to erect a hexagonal shelter at the New Inn in Kilmington, despite the plans receiving support from the parish council.
JC & RH Palmer Ltd want to erect a timber hexagonal "pavilion style" shelter at the front of the building, measuring 2.7 metres by 2.7 metres and 3 metres high. However, planning officials said that the structure was not in keeping with the setting of the Grade II listed building.
They recommended refusal on the basis that "the proposed pavilion, by virtue of its location, construction and appearance, would have an adverse impact upon the setting of the listed building.”
The application received the support of the parish council and no letters of objection were received.
