KILMINGTON REMEMBERS
St Giles' Church was packed for the United Royal British Legion Service of Remembrance on Sunday 11th November, conducted jointly by the Rev'ds Nigel Freathy and Lincoln Jones. The local Baptist Moderator, the Rev'd Mike Hornsby gave a moving Address. The collection of £264 was donated to the Poppy Appeal. The short Service at the War Memorial, conducted by the Branch Chaplain, was attended by many Village residents to honour, in particular, those from the Village who lost their lives in two World Wars. As it was Armistice Day Anniversary, maroons marked the Two Minutes Silence (although the second one was a damp squib) after which Gp Capt Brian Lavender laid a wreath on behalf of all Kilmington residents. Many appreciated the refreshments in the Baptist Chapel, and 30 Branch members went on to lunch afterwards in the Otter Inn at Weston and enjoyed a delicious carvery.
